Memory Vault: Starting a Supercar Club

Freedom Supercars Member Event

In 2009, My partners and I were in the process of selling another business we had taken public, and it felt like the perfect time to reward ourselves. Naturally, the idea of owning a luxury car - or two - came up in conversation. The excitement was real. Do we get a Lamborghini? A Ferrari? I had a soft spot for the Dodge Viper, but there were so many options. The possibilities seemed endless, but so did the logistics.

We quickly realized that ownership came with a long list of responsibilities. Where would we store these cars? Who would handle the maintenance and detailing? What if one of us wanted to sell, but the others didn’t? Suddenly, something that should have been thrilling felt more like a chore.

That’s when a thought struck me: Surely, there had to be a service that took care of all this. I knew about clubs for private planes and yachts, but no one seemed to be doing this for supercars. I would much rather be a part of a club like this than own just one myself.

As an entrepreneur at heart, I couldn’t let the idea go. I pulled out a spreadsheet and started crunching numbers. The more I dug into it, the clearer it became—there was a real business opportunity here. Not just a way to drive incredible cars, but a way to revolutionize the experience altogether.

The Birth of a New Concept

The concept was simple but bold: a private, members-only club offering access to a collection of supercars. No ownership headaches. Just the pure joy of driving the world’s best cars whenever you wanted.

We sketched out membership plans and operational details, a clubhouse, and then crafted a direct mail campaign targeting some of Houston’s affluent neighborhoods. I personally wrote letters explaining this groundbreaking idea. Instead of owning a single car, members would have access to an entire collection. It was a game-changer, and I knew there were car enthusiasts out there who would see the value.

The response was incredible. Within 45 days, we had secured our first 10 founding members, and that’s when things got really exciting.

The First Fleet

Now came the fun part—buying the cars. We wanted variety, a mix of luxury, speed, and driving experiences. Our first fleet included:

Ferrari F430 Spider

Lamborghini Gallardo

Aston Martin Vantage

Bentley Continental GT

Audi R8

Dodge Viper

Porsche 911 Turbo S

Mercedes SL 55 AMG

It was the perfect blend of style and performance, offering something for every kind of driver. Our members didn’t just get to drive one car—they got to experience them all. This was about more than cars; it was about creating memories, fueling passions, and living out automotive dreams.

A Thriving Community

Fast forward to today, and Freedom Supercars is still going strong. We’ve grown, evolved, and added hundreds of incredible vehicles to our collection. But what makes me most proud is the community we’ve built. Many of our original members are still with us, and they’ve become like family.

Freedom Supercars has always been about more than just driving—it’s about connection. It’s about bringing together like-minded enthusiasts who share a love for luxury, performance, and the thrill of the open road.

As we look to the future, I’m excited for what’s ahead. New cars, new experiences, and, most importantly, new memories waiting to be made. Here’s to the drive!
