6 THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE BUYING A FERRARI

1) TAX & TITLE
The cost of ownership begins with tax, title and license fees. Plan on spending $15,000 - $20,000 before you even take the first drive.
2) INTEREST / COST OF CAPITAL
Financing a supercar isn’t cheap - and if you purchase the car outright, the cost of capital is even more because of tied-up cash. Figure at least $12,000 a year for this.
3) INSURANCE
Coverage for a supercar is different than your daily driver. Realistically, expect to pay around $5,000 a year and be prepared for serious limitations in the policy.
4) VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
Annual service can run $5,000 and tires cost at least $2,000 for a set of four. Expect the unexpected, and don’t rely on it being covered under warranty. Allocate $2,500 per year at a minimum.
5) DEPRECIATION
Like conventional cars, expect to see your prized possession lose 40-50% of its value over a three-year period. Even more for high mileage or if any Carfax issues are reported. Estimate $35,000 - $40,000 per year and you’ll be right on track.
6) TOTAL COST
In total if you are looking to get a vehicle like a Ferrari 488, Ferrari Portofino, or a Ferrari 812 Superfast you are looking to pay about $60,000-$80,000 a year for just one vehicle.
